Soumaya Museum in Mexico City by Fernando Romero
Fernando Romero enterprise has designed the Soumaya Museum in Mexico City. This building stands as a unique and contemporary structure. It has an anthology of paintings, sculptures and ornamental objects of different parts of the world dating from fourteenth century to till date. The external view gives an amorphous structure to the visitors. Steel columns of varying diameters are used to construct the shell of the building. A 20,000 square meters wide exhibition area is being divided among five floors and has a cafe, offices, an auditorium and a gift shop. The largest part of the museum is the top floor and the roof is suspended from a beam that allows natural lighting. The façade of the building is made up of hexagonal aluminum structure.
